Marino Di Teana. Architectural and Monumental Sculpture
Curator: Nicolas Marino

Marino Di TeanaFrancesco Marino - an eminent and highly regarded sculptor, architect, urbanist, philosopher, "poet of space" - was born in 1920 in Teana in Italy. Studied at the School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires (where he emigrated in 1936); also a registered architect and engineer. He returned to Europe in 1953 to settle for good in Paris.

Marino di Teana accomplished over fifty monumental sculptures, including one of the Europe's largest "Freedom" in Fontenay. When creating the model, the artist takes into account its future surroundings, therefore not only the sculpture, but also the entire architectural arrangement (sculpture - space - surrounding buildings) is harmonious and balanced. His sculpting projects are subject to the same conditions that apply to architecture and urban planning. In di Teana's view, a sculptor must also be an engineer, capable of calculating such parameters as strength, resistance to winds or soil vibration - a natural prerequisite for the  monumental projects of the artist. Every single work possesses an architectural structure. Therefore, di Teana easily visualizes the transformation of the sculptures into a building, a building complex, a city.....

The exhibition will demonstrate the versatility of his works: beginning with the classical drawings for painting, plans, artistic-architectural projects and minor sculpting forms to monumental sculptures.

The exhibition was prepared by the artist's son - Nicolas Marino.

The exhibition can be seen in the Grand Hall - ground floor
and in front of the CK "Zamek" entrance.
